Hybrid Pottery from two distinct areas in Japan.

At Soryu gama we are proud of our ceramic technique to create seiji-glazed pottery.

We have fused two different ceramics techniques, the Kyouyaki and Koishiwara pottery, to create our own original porcelain. Our mixed approach is a result of two pottery families from different regions of Japan coming together.

The texture has iron and pigment kneaded into the porcelain. The effect is that when the glaze is applied, it results in a deep blue.

That’s when the Koishiharashou technique comes in. We plane down the pottery so that when the glaze hardens it brings out a subtle pattern. No one else can lay claim to this design.

The color that we look to achieve is an image of the blue sky after heavy rain. It’s our passion to have people enjoy the beauty of this blue by brightening their dining tables with our products.
